Hex-locations - An early example
I am playing my way through writing hex locations for my Iberian peninsula map for Mythic Bastionland. It is still early work but I am happy on how this is going. Although it is not a big campaign of epic battles, it is a fun and relaxing thing to do before going to sleep. At some point I would like to share updates of this process through Itch and also to upload a markdown or pdf with the keyed hexes.
Here you have some examples of the Hexes.
Hex 16.03 - Northern Al-Balansi
Wilderness Landmark - Cave of the slumbering silence
This cave is in complete silence and darkness. Those who enter see their voices muffled and their sight obscured.
[Ruling] Lose 1d6 CLA upon going inside.
[Rumour] The place is the lair of a sleeping monster, made of darkness. No one should disturb its slumber.
[Ruling] If someone tries to enter the cave, a group of d6 Wolves will try to stop them.
[Cast]
Pack of wolves:
- 10 STR, 10 CLA, 3 SPI - 4GD, 0 Armor
- d8 Jaws. Intelligent creatures trying to avoid a myth.
Darkness Below: see [The Cave] Myth
- VIG 12, CLA 12, SPI 7 - 8GD, A3 (darkness hardened to iron)
- Dark Blade (2d10 in dark places or 2d6 in lit places)
- or burst of un-light (d8 blast)
[Site Needed for a dungeon experience]
[Ruling] This place counts as a Ruin and if anyone delves into it, the next Myth to appear after next season will be myth [6.10] - The Cave.
Hex 17.03 - Northern Al-Balansi
Landscape - Pine Wood Mountains
Wilderness Landmark - The Brightspire Fort
Atop one of the lesser mountains of the region stands The Brightspire Fort, a structure with a high tower now almost crumbling. The fort was home of a raging battle and its walls were mostly destroyed. The interiors are assumed to be in a bad condition.
Currently, it serves as shelter for those who travel through the pine forests of these regions.
[Rumours] - Some people who slept within the walls of the fort had strange visions and horrible nightmares. They say it is haunted by the warriors who died there.
[Ruling] - If PCs sleep within the walls, they will not be able to sleep properly and will lose d6 CLA due to nightmares. In addition, Metallic noises arise from inside the Fort during the nights of full moon.
[Location] - The interior of the Fort is, actually, well mantained but any door leading to inside is locked. Below the fort there is a hidden structure, damp and dark. The ghosts of soldiers roam the deepest chambers and will stop anyone from roaming around this place: either by word or by sword.
Even in death, this ghost warband of d12+12 soldiers are still carrying on their last task: to guard a [Glass Scimitar] located in the deepest ceremonial chamber, until it is claimed by the proper servants of The Crown and The Citadel.
[Map Connection/Secret] - Duke Nieolas at [Hex 19.08][Balansiya, city of dust] always carries a glass lantern, a mark of the servants of The Citadel.
[Cast]
Proud Undead Soldiers:
- 10 STR, 5 CLA, 10 SPI - 3 GD, 1 Armor
- d8 Ghostly Spear
Myrd - Battlemaster of the Warband
- 12 ST, 5 CLA, 13 SPI - 6 GD, 2 Armor
- 2d8 Ghostly Warhammer
[Watcher's Glass Scimitar]
- 2d8, looking at someone, through the scimitar, while they answer a question will reveal if they are telling lies.
