Feats for Cairn

An interesting lever to add to Cairn is a little bit of mechanical choice and power-up for characters: some sort of classes with feats.

I was tempted to call these "classes" as the ones present in Whitehack (strong, deft, wise) but it is pretty much a copy and paste the concept of feats from Mythic Bastionland to any Mark of the Odd game.

In the end, I am calling these "archetypes" and can be used with Cairn. Note that the archetypes will make characters more resilient in combat.

Cairn - Archetypes

When you create a character choose one archetype

Ruthless - Before rolling an attack you may add a d12 or the blast tag. After the attack, make a VIG save or become exhausted [you can not use this feat again unless you rest]

Cunning - After an attack, you can declare you also make a maneuver. Things like tripping, pushing, disarming... If the enemy fails the corresponding save, the maneuver is successful.

After the attack, make a DEX save or become exhausted [you can not use this feat again unless you rest]

Protector - After the enemies attack and roll dice you can choose one die and remove it from the pool. You can do this even if the attack is not directed at you. After the attack, make a WIL save or become exhausted [you can not use this feat again unless you rest]
